  • Strategize ways to create connections with LGBTQ+ -friendly community supports.

*Providing Quality Care for Older LGBTQ+ Adults is a four-part webinar series for healthcare providers. Session 1 introduces participants to the lives, history, and identity of LGBTQ+ Older Adults. A certificate of completion will be available for those who participate in all four sessions.

About Your Instructors

Patricia Burbank, DNsC

Dr. Patricia Burbank is a retired professor at the University of Rhode Island, College of Nursing. She holds a master’s degree as a gerontological clinical nurse specialist and a doctoral degree in nursing science, both from Boston University. Her three books and many articles span the areas of health behavior change; improving the health of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) elders; changing attitudes toward older adults; and theory development.

Prof. Tim Anderson,
M.Ed., ACC/EDU, CPC, CIPG

Prof. Anderson is the Programming and Operations Coordinator for Pride in Aging Rhode Island, as well as Chair of the Education Subcommittee. He has spoken nationally and locally on how to provide culturally competent, dementia-friendly recreation programming to residents in long-term care communities.  He holds a bachelor's degree in music from the University of Rhode Island and a master’s degree in Instructional Design and Technology from the American College of Education. He is a certified Life Coach through the Institute of Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC) and Activity Consultant through the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP).
